Never Underestimate the Power of a Remake

Carrie. Robocop. Red Dawn. Pet Cemetery. Dirty Dancing. Starship Troopers. American Psycho.

If this sounds like a list of the “greatest hits” of your youth, you’re in good company. Many of us cut our cinematic teeth on such films, and as such, they hold a special place in our hearts.

But let’s be honest. As good as they were in their time, these movies weren’t perfect. Watching them in light of modern cinematic development, we now notice the clunky special effects, the bad lighting, the poorly-stitched scenes. Although our nostalgia may overlook such minor issues, our children and grandchildren are less forgiving, especially regarding the small matters of dated hairstyles, goofy slang, and questionable soundtracks.

But the stories, you might say. The stories are genuinely good.

If such is your argument, you’ll be happy to know that the movies listed above — along with 43 others — are included in a recent list of 50 upcoming movie remakes, some of which have already graced the big screen. For better or for worse, many of the films we have known and loved are getting a reboot, making them more accessible to upcoming generations. And while we might sit around arguing over which version is better, at least we can be happy that these stories have not been forgotten altogether.

Just as we can become so emotionally attached to classic films that we seem incapable of admitting their flaws, so we can become attached to an outdated dinosaur of a website. Although your website may have been good enough for its time, if it hasn’t been updated recently, it could be in danger of appearing ridiculous to the upcoming generation.

Here at Cutting Edge, we work together with our customers to craft a Custom WordPress Website that not only meets the high standards of our clients but also appeals to a broad-ranging, multi-generational client base. Think of what we do as the web-based equivalent of hiring a hot new cast, tweaking the lighting, dropping in a fresh soundtrack, and ramping up the special effects so that your website has fresh appeal to the masses while still maintaining the same core message.

To talk more about this, or anything else, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to working together with you.
